About seven years ago, we had a music festival at the church my family attended in which we invited Christian bands and artists from around the area to attend and showcase what God had given them. As we were planning the event, the planning team and I kept hearing the same name mentioned that we had to have come. "CrossWalk." I had never heard or seen them and had to check them out before we invited them to our event and found out when their next gig was and made a trip to see them. Needless to say it was not a trip made in vain. I got there a little late and they had just begun their set as I walked in. The stage was surrounded by a hundred plus screaming teenagers and adults most all who were proudly wearing their CrossWalk t shirts. As the band played this, thunderous yet soulful voice emerged ripping a Third Day like rendition of "This Little Light of Mine" and I instantly understood why their name kept coming up in our discussions. CrossWalk is a true Rock band with a big heart for God and have a mission for sharing the gospel through the music God gives them.
I recently reconnected with Davey Thompson, CrossWalk's lead singer and was pleased to hear that they are still putting out fresh music. Davey has a very raw and transparent writing style that doesn't pull punches, that gets to the heart of what God is trying to say quickly and their melodies carry you to a true place of intimacy. Not to mention, but Davey's voice is truly like butter. In all my years, I have never heard a more unique voice in person.
The Story Behind the Song: "I Will Always be There": When I wrote this song I wanted to write it from the point of view as God looking down on us, letting us know that He is there all we have to do is call to Him, reach out to Him, and He will be there. Sometimes in life it just kind of seems that we hit a wall, wheither it's depression, or sickness, or really just anything that can cause us to loose focus on what is really important, but if we hang onto God's Truth He promised that He would never leave us nor forsake us. So This song is really God saying come to Me, seek Me in the quite place, do not be distracted or worry about what is going on around you, but keep Your eyes on Me and know that My promises are True no matter what it looks like.

In a recent conversation Davey said, "We have been a band for about 10 years playing churches, festivals, conferences, pretty much whoever will have us. We have been very fortunate to have played with some big Christian bands like; Big Daddy Weave, Building 429, Skillet, KJ52, Audio Adrenaline, and several others over our time together. Right now we mostly lead worship at our home church Holy Chapel of God in Shepherdville, Ky, but do travel some when the Lord leads us out. When we first started we really wanted to make this a living, traveling playing music but now all want is to bring down the Glory of God."
I know and believe that God has big things in store for this group from Kentucky and can't wait to hear what comes next. I am glad I took the time to go out and check them out seven years ago. It was well worth it for sure. Take the time as I did, you won't be disappointed.
